Elementary Culture Exploration
Contributing Educator: Helena Ortiz
This unit helps students in elementary school explore their cultural identity related to family as well as in the classroom. This is fundamental to our work as actors – knowing who we are is a precursor to authentically playing a character on stage. Students will see that culture is the shared practices, values and traditions that shape our communities and personal identities. Through home interviews, games and class discussions, students will more deeply understand who they are and their relationship with others.
