Dramallama U – Social Emotional Learning Through Drama
Contributing Educator: Anna Beck
In an age of digital distraction, the author sees drama as one of the best tools to help students be present in the moment and rehearse positive patterns. Drama asks us to be in our bodies, connect with others (and ourselves!) and invites us to take on different perspectives in the world around us. Using drama to rehearse SEL skills in real time will help our students be stronger actors, but most importantly, healthier humans! This course will use the 5 CASEL SEL Competencies as a framework to introduce basic social emotional concepts through active and experiential drama techniques. This Unit emphasizes process-oriented drama over product-oriented.
