1. Who We Are

Dramallama licenses plays and musicals and publishes theatre curriculum (Dramallama U) for schools, educators and theatre organizations. Dramallama is a subsidiary of The Licensing House. In this Privacy Policy, “Dramallama,” “we,” “our” and “us” refer to Dramallama and The Licensing House.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you give us

• Account and purchase information: When you create an account, buy a licensing plan, perusal or Dramallama U unit, or register, we collect your name, email address, phone number, organization, billing address and payment details.
• Sign-up forms: When you join our email list, request a free script read or download a free resource such as the Fundraising Kit, we collect your email address and may ask for your organization name, organization type and role.
• Applications: When you apply for a Stage Access Grant, we collect the information requested on the application, such as your organization’s name, type, website and contact details, and information about your program.
• Communications: Information you share when you email us, use live chat, complete a survey, contact us through social media or send us production dates, photos or videos.

2.2 Information collected automatically

• Device information: IP address, browser type, operating system and device identifiers.
• Usage information: Pages viewed, time spent on the Site, links clicked, scripts read, searches and similar activity.
• Cookies and similar technologies: Cookies, pixels, tags and similar technologies, including session recording tools, as described in Section 4.

2.3 Information from third parties

We may receive information about you from payment processors, analytics and advertising partners, email and chat service providers, and social media platforms.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, operate and improve the Site and our services, including access to plays, musicals and Dramallama U materials under your licensing plan.
• Process payments, manage licensing plans and renewals, and fulfill orders.
• Communicate with you about your account, orders, renewals and customer service requests.
• Send newsletters, product updates and promotions, which you can unsubscribe from at any time.
• Review Stage Access Grant applications and administer awards.
• Understand how the Site is used, fix problems and personalize content.
• Measure and improve our advertising.
• Celebrate your productions, but only with your permission when we share your photos or videos publicly.
• Keep the Site secure, detect and prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.

4. Cookies, Analytics and Advertising

We and our partners use cookies, pixels and similar technologies on the Site. These fall into the following categories:

• Necessary: Required for the Site to work, such as keeping you signed in, remembering your cart and processing payments.
• Analytics and performance: Help us understand how visitors use the Site, such as Google Analytics.
• Session recording and heatmaps: Tools such as Contentsquare (Hotjar) record how visitors scroll, click and move through pages so we can find and fix usability problems.
• Advertising: Tools such as the Meta Pixel help us measure our ads and show relevant ads to people who have visited the Site. These partners may collect information about your activity on our Site and on other websites over time.
• Functional: Features such as live chat (Zendesk) and email sign-up forms (Klaviyo).

When you first visit the Site, our cookie banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choices at any time by opening Cookie Settings. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, although blocking some cookies may affect how the Site works.

Do Not Track: Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no common standard for these signals, our Site does not currently respond to them. You can still manage cookies through Cookie Settings and your browser.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information only as described below.

5.1 Service providers

We share information with companies that help us run the Site and our business, including payment processing (Stripe), website hosting, email marketing (Klaviyo), customer support and live chat (Zendesk), analytics (Google), session recording (Contentsquare), cookie consent management (CookieYes) and web fonts. These providers may use the information only to provide services to us.

5.2 Advertising partners

We work with advertising partners such as Meta that use cookies and pixels to measure and personalize ads. Under some state laws, including California’s, this may be considered “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or “targeted advertising.” You can opt out at any time through Cookie Settings or by contacting us as described in Section 9.

5.3 Legal compliance

We may disclose information if required to comply with legal obligations, protect our rights, or respond to lawful requests from public authorities.

5.4 Business transfers

In the event of a merger, sale or acquisition, your information may be transferred to the new entity as part of the transaction.

5.5 With your consent

We may share information for other purposes when you ask us to or give us permission.

6. Schools, Educators and Students

The Site and Dramallama accounts are intended for adult educators, theatre directors and organizations. We do not ask students to create accounts or to provide personal information to us, and we do not use student information for advertising.

Please do not send us student personal information unless it is needed. If an educator or organization shares student information with us, such as a cast list or production photos, we use it only to provide our services or, with permission, to celebrate the production, and we delete it on request. Organizations that participate in the Stage Access Grant program must follow FERPA and other applicable privacy laws for programs involving minors.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Dramallama U includes lessons for elementary grades, which are delivered by teachers and are not designed for children to use the Site directly. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe this has happened, please contact us at [email protected].

8. Your Choices

8.1 Managing your information

You can update or correct your account information by logging into your account, or by contacting us.

8.2 Email

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email. We may still send you emails about your account, orders and licensing plans.

8.3 Cookies and advertising

You can accept or reject non-essential cookies, including advertising cookies, through Cookie Settings.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, including California and other states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to:

• Know and access: Request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes and the categories of third parties we disclose it to.
• Correct: Request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
• Delete: Request that we delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
• Opt out: Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and of targeted advertising.
• Non-discrimination: Receive equal service and pricing whether or not you exercise your privacy rights.

To make a request, email [email protected] with the subject line “Privacy Request.” We will need to verify your identity before we respond, usually by confirming information we already have on file. You may use an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, and we may ask for proof of the agent’s authority. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response and explaining why.

10. Data Retention

We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing our services, maintaining records of licenses and purchases, meeting legal, tax and accounting requirements, resolving disputes and enforcing our agreements. When we no longer need information, we delete it or de-identify it.

11. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. Payments are processed by our payment processor, Stripe, which handles payment card details. However, no data transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, and you provide information at your own risk.

12. International Users

The Site is operated in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. By using the Site, you consent to this transfer and processing.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and update the Effective Date at the top. If we make material changes, we may also notify you by email or through a notice on the Site. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
