The Colors of August
The Colors of August is a deeply emotional coming-of-age drama about four girls—Ally, Maureen, Kate, and Tonya—whose lives are bound together by one transformative summer at Camp Chippeway. What begins as a fun a competition becomes a crucible of truth when jealousy, betrayal, and newly-discovered secrets fracture their world. Forced to confront fear, guilt, and the blurred lines between complicity and courage, the girls learn that loyalty means more than silence and that forgiveness often begins in the quiet moments between friends who refuse to give up on one another.
Set in the late 1990’s, the story follows these young women as they grow through their high school years, carrying with them the weight of what happened each summer—and the strength it gave them. Through letters, distance, and time, they rediscover the power of friendship, resilience, and honesty in the face of loss and change. By its end, the play becomes a tribute to the beauty and heartbreak of growing up, to the moments that shape who we become, and to the bonds that never fade—the colors of August.
