Go Scratch
What happens when an eighteen-year old wins one million dollars? On her birthday, Mackie Caperella gets a scratch-off lottery ticket from her best friend, Jess—and suddenly finds herself with more money than she ever imagined. Before long, everyone seems to have a reason Mackie should share the wealth. Neighbors show up with questionable requests, the local priest needs a new roof, and even Mackie’s long-absent father comes knocking. As the requests pile up, Mackie quickly discovers that winning the money might have been the easy part.
Go Scratch is a fast, funny, and surprisingly heartfelt comedy about what happens when a teenager suddenly has the power to change the lives of everyone around her. As Mackie decides who deserves her help—and what she actually owes the people she loves—the money forces her to confront friendship, family sacrifices, and a relationship with her father she thought she’d left behind. Filled with sharp humor, memorable characters, and plenty of heart, Go Scratch asks a deceptively simple question: If you suddenly had enough money to fix almost anything, what would you discover can’t be bought?
