Kelsey Rain is a Shoshone playwright with additional indigenous ancestry from Ottawa, Uintah Ute, Choctaw, and Muskogee Creek. She has an MFA in Playwriting from University of Idaho–where she also studied Music Composition, Directing, Feminist Theatre, and Queer Theatre. She is trained and has worked professionally in Opera, Musical Theatre, Acting, Directing, and Dramaturgy, but creating original stories is her true passion. She is inspired by her culture, societal struggles, and the visual arts. Her plays Dreamwalker and No Locks, Nor Keys were finalists for Native Voice’s Playwright Retreat. Recently, she assistant directed Marisol at Idaho State University where she served as Adjunct faculty, and the production received an award for creating a brave rehearsal space at KCACTF. She is currently a high school Music and Theatre teacher, as well as an Adjunct Theatre and Communications professor. She is also the Assistant Artistic Director of People of Pocatello Theatre.
