Inspired by her Camp Lisa album, Lisa Loeb’s Camp Kappawanna is a sunny, funny new musical that captures the magic, mess, and growing pains of summer camp. Shy, guitar-toting Jenny Jenkins is shipped off to scruffy Camp Kappawanna, where she’s stuck between a video game addict, a fashion-obsessed bunkmate, and a frazzled counselor who’s just barely holding it together. Across the lake looms the ultra-competitive Camp Bankston, ruled by perfection-obsessed director Chad Banks and his robotically flawless campers. When a surprise Inter-Camp Olympics puts Kappawanna’s very future on the line, this ragtag crew has to discover whether heart, humor, and “average” kids can really stand a chance against polished perfection.
